Raw chocolate and orange cake with cashew

A few weeks ago, I had a post on the blog with homemade bread and a bitter orange marmalade. The same evening that I had made it, I had a vision about the marriage of the tastes marmalade, cashew nuts and chocolate. I had to try it! And it turned out really great, I just have to share it with you!

Filled_pancakes

Comfort food: Filled pancakes for lunch, dinner or breakfast

I’m a weather person, I can’t help it. The light and the sun, the clouds and the rain have an impact on me (as for many others I presume). The autumn season have finally hit The Netherlands with rain and a bit lower temperatures (even though we have had the warmest October here ever according to the news). The darkness makes it tempting to stay inside, light some candles and eat real comfort food. So I do!

Homemade paneer with pak choi and curry

Did you ever try paneer (or panir as you also see sometimes)? It is an Indian cheese that you can fry and add to al different kinds of sauces. It has a lovely crisp when fried and is a perfect vegetarian alternative when you are longing for something crunchy and filling. And the best thing, it is super easy to make yourself at home with just a few ingredients.

Breakfast with bread and bitter orange marmalade

I have always been a breakfast person, I wake up and I’m hungry. When trying to cut the carbs, you every now and then have to think twice what to eat for breakfast. Often I just have a baked egg or some yoghurt with homemade granola but every now and then I miss the easygoing of just having a sandwich.

Hot_vegan_chocolate

Hot chocolate with chipotle chili

October has for some days shown itself from its best side, the sun has been shining and the rain has stayed away. Last weekend I even was walking to the supermarket in just a t-shirt! But then again, the weather reminded us about the season and changed.

Black garlic

Fresh, French, smoked and black garlic

During the past weekend I convinced my beloved husband to go on garlic hunt! No, we didn’t literally pick them but instead I hunted them down in the city and the surroundings. The catch comes here, a post only about garlic.

Avocado_icecream

Avocado ice cream with mint and chocolate sauce

If someone would have mentioned a recipe for ice cream made of mainly avocado a few years ago, I would have been thinking he/she was a lunatic. Luckily people change and so do I. I hope you are ready for it as well!

Pointed_cabbage_main

Pointed cabbage with lemon, parmesan and butter

Lemon, parmesan and butter – it simply can’t go wrong! This is something easygoing to make for lunch; it’s comforting, warm and really tasty!

Kale

Cabbage and kale

Autumn and winter are really the seasons for al different kinds of cabbage and kale. In my family, we hardly had any of these veggies on our dinner table when I was a child. My mother didn’t like the smell, nor the taste. In other words, discovering the world of kale has been more or less an adventure in later years for me. But boy, do I catch up for lost time!

Vegan_dumpling

Dumplings my way

Last Sunday I was in Amsterdam and the Zeedijk together with my husband. The Zeedijk is full of Chinese restaurants and shops and I always find it very inspiring to be there. The Peking ducks are hanging in the windows and the smell of 5-spices is heavy on the streets.
